Poster Presentation Info

The National APAMSA Conference Research Poster Session will be held at NYU-SOM. To those with research in any field and are interested in presenting their work at the conference, please complete the research section in the registration form. This is a great opportunity to showcase your research to peers and faculty to all of APAMSA chapters throughout the US. 

After an abstract has been submitted, revisions may be made until the deadline, as approved by the National Research Director. If you need to make changes, please contact research@apamsa.org.  

Abstract Guidelines:

  • 250-350 words

  • Must contain: Introduction, Methods/Case Presentation, Results/Discussion, Conclusion

  • List of authors

Deadline for submission: September 1, 2019

Please review the registration form for poster guidelines. Posters must be displayed by 9AM on October 5th, 2019. Failure to do so will disqualify the research from being judged in the research presentation competition.

Categories

Poster Submissions will be separated into the following categories:

  • Basic Science & Clinical Research (Bench & Translational Projects)

  • Community Health, Epidemiology, & Policy (Ethics, Education, Informatics, Quality Improvement Projects)

 

Awards 

Awards will be given as follows:

  • Winner for the Basic Science & Clinical Research category

  • Runner-Up for the Basic Science & Clinical Research category

  • Winner for the Community Health, Epidemiology, & Policy category

  • Runner-Up for the Community Health, Epidemiology, & Policy category

Up to 2 honorable mentions for each category, as appropriate

  • Special Award - AAPI Topics

 

Judging

Authors will be notified that at least one co-author present to answer questions from judges or conference attendees during the judging period from 12:30-1:30pm on Saturday, October 5th. 

Judging will occur in the following manner:

  • Round 1: 12:30-1:00pm

Round 2: 1:00-1:30pm

 

  • All posters will be viewed by at least one Judging Committee member in Round 1. Presenters should be prepared to give a concise presentation of their project (3-4 mins), then answer the questions posed by the Judging Committee member. The Judging Committee will make no more than 2 attempts to speak with each presenter (in case the presenter is away from the poster during the first attempt). 

  • The Judging Committee members will confer and select posters to be considered in Round 2. 

  • Posters selected for consideration in Round 2 will be assessed by at least one additional Judging Committee member. 

  • The Judging Committee members will confer to determine Award winners.
